Cutting Carbon, One Job at a Time

The UK’s construction industry faces a hidden carbon crisis. Every day, tradespeople drive an average of 50 miles round-trip to quote or complete emergency jobs. That’s 12.5kg of CO2 released per callout – equivalent to keeping a 60W lightbulb running for 41 days. With millions of trade callouts annually, we’re talking about a massive, unnecessary carbon footprint.

InAJam changes everything through revolutionary GPS matching technology. As the UK’s only platform sending work by live location, we’ve slashed average job distances from 50 miles to just 5 miles – a staggering 90% reduction. This isn’t just about convenience; it’s about transforming how our industry impacts the planet.

The Numbers That Matter

When a tradesperson uses InAJam’s GPS matching instead of traditional job allocation:

  • 45 miles saved per job
  • 11.25kg CO2 prevented per callout
  • 2,925kg CO2 saved annually per active tradesperson (based on 5 jobs/week)
  • £540 saved in fuel costs yearly per trade (at current diesel prices)
  • 9 hours less driving time monthly – time better spent earning or with family

Real Environmental Impact at Scale

With 15,000 active trades on our platform completing emergency callouts:

  • 43,875 tonnes of CO2 eliminated annually
  • Equivalent to taking 18,281 cars off UK roads permanently
  • Same impact as planting 2.2 million trees
  • 175.5 million fewer miles driven – that’s 7,062 times around the Earth
  • £8.1 million saved in fuel costs across our trade network annually

To Put This in Perspective

43,875 tonnes of CO2 saved equals:

  • The annual emissions of a town of 8,000 people
  • Carbon absorbed by a forest the size of 4,400 football pitches
  • Removing ALL cars from the Isle of Wight for 3 years
  • The emissions from heating 6,250 UK homes for a year

How Our Live Location Technology Works

Unlike traditional directories that list trades by postcode (often covering 20+ mile radiuses), InAJam’s live GPS tracking ensures the nearest available tradesperson gets the job. No more Sheffield plumbers driving to Rotherham when there’s someone 2 miles away. No more wasted fuel, time, or emissions.

Our ISO 14001 environmental certification isn’t just a badge – it’s our commitment to measurable change. Every job booked through InAJam generates a carbon saving report, helping trades and customers track their positive environmental impact. For businesses managing multiple properties, we provide Scope 3 emissions reporting for your sustainability audits.

How InAJam reduces carbon

When a homeowner, landlord or tenant needs a tradesperson today, the standard process is to phone one — who then drives to the job from wherever they happen to be. There is no proximity logic and no measurement of the journey.

InAJam replaces that model. Every job is dispatched to the tradesperson physically nearest the property using live GPS location. Once a trade is dispatched, an AI monitoring layer tracks the trip in real time, distinguishing between active driving, idling, stops at traffic lights, and voluntary stops. This produces a per-trip carbon footprint measured from actual vehicle behaviour, not estimated from distance alone.

The measured impact

73% reduction in carbon emissions per callout compared to the conventional “phone-a-trade” dispatch model, where callouts originate from wherever the trade happens to be rather than the nearest available. Methodology verified by the Department for Transport.

96% measurement accuracy of per-trip carbon emissions. This is materially higher than the distance-based or spend-based estimates typically used in Scope 3 reporting.

Beyond the measured per-callout reduction, InAJam also produces wider environmental benefits through Tool Vault (reducing tool theft and the associated replacement-manufacturing footprint) and through repair-first servicing (reducing product replacement and landfill waste). Quantification of these additional benefits is in development.

The InAJam Carbon Calculator

Every user can access real-time data showing:

  • Personal carbon savings per job
  • Annual environmental impact
  • Equivalent trees planted
  • Fuel cost savings
  • Contribution to UK’s Net Zero targets

Beyond Carbon: The Wider Benefits

For Tradespeople: Less fuel cost, reduced van wear, more jobs completed daily, home earlier For Homeowners: Faster response times, lower travel charges, supporting local trades For Landlords: ESG compliance reporting, reduced contractor costs, faster emergency response For the UK: Contributing to 2050 Net Zero targets, reducing urban air pollution, supporting local economies

Patent and innovation

InAJam’s integrated approach is the subject of UK patent application GB2607736.2 (filed April 2026), covering live-location field service dispatch, real-time carbon measurement, immutable property service records, and multi-party notification as a single integrated system.

Certifications

  • ISO 27001:2022 — information security management
  • ISO 14001:2015 — environmental management system

The ISO 14001 certification covers our environmental management system. The 73% reduction and 96% measurement accuracy figures above are separately substantiated.

Leading the Carbon-Neutral Revolution

In July 2025, our founder Paul White wrote to His Majesty King Charles III about InAJam’s environmental work, including a copy of our carbon calculator. He received a personal reply from Buckingham Palace, in which His Majesty conveyed his warmest good wishes.

Our Commitment to Net Zero

InAJam isn’t just reducing carbon – we’re eliminating it. Our platform’s impact with thousands trades equals:

  • 0.1% of the UK’s total annual transport emissions
  • Supporting the UK’s legally binding 78% emissions reduction by 2035
  • Creating the country’s first truly carbon-negative trade services network

Join thousands users already reducing their carbon footprint with InAJam. Because the shortest distance between problem and solution shouldn’t cost the Earth.
